Councillor Newspaper Ads Ban

Are the local SNP-LibDem Administration feeling the heat by banning newspaper ads for Councillor Surgeries in the local press or are they just saving money..?

Let me know your thoughts...

  1. Yes I agree, looks like they are trying to hide from the Campaigners..

Headline in local press regarding Options being considered for Office Space required by Education & Leisure staff. -If they are looking at using space in schools for this then what does this say about the situation elsewhere ?

  2. As I pointed out on the "have Your Say..." tread, this smacks of two things....firstly, with so many unpopular decisions already taken and more on the cards, the councillors obviously don't want to face any objection, or be forced into listening to the views of the public (after all, then they could be accused of being fair!) Secondly, as I also said, I suspect certain newspapers are being sent to the proverbial naughty corner for daring to give open and honest coverage of the issue of South.
With reference to the schools being used to house Council staff - I'd like to know why this was never considered for South. A proposal was put forward with one single option (in blatant contravention of the Guidelines for School Closures) and never at any point did the council give consideratin to any other use for the space within South. A clear indication of how the decision to close was made well before the proposal was even put together. No doubt the council will expect us to believe that this idea was dreamt up in the few weeks since the consultation was approved.
